Filmmaker Vivek Agnitori has certainly become one of the most discussed personalities on the internet. Being an avid social media user, he often takes to Twitter to share his take on the ongoing matters in the country. After being in the news for sending West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee a legal notice for her highly defamatory comments on his movie The Kashmir Files, Agnihotri took to social media to claim the  Pakistan’s Ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan illegally used a song from his movie for a protest video.

Sharing the video clip on the micro-blogging site, he claimed that the song ‘Hum Dekhenge’ from The Kashmir Files, was used in the video illegally for an official video on Instagram. He wrote, “IRONY OF PAKISTAN: See the power of Indic cinema. The official account of @ImranKhanPTI is using the official song of #TheKashmirFiles illegally in his official video on Instagram.” ALSO READ: OMG! For the unversed, the audio in the post is labelled as Hum Dekhenge and credits the Indian artists that have sung the song. Netizens immediately took to the comments section of the filmmaker’s post to explain to him that the audio isn’t used illegally since the song itself is another version of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s famous poem that has been used over the years for different protests in both the countries. One wrote, “1. The song doesn’t belong to you. You bought the rights to use it, remixed it, so just this particular version belongs to you. 2. Instagram allows songs to be added to videos in reels & stories. This is exactly what Imran Khan did. How is it illegal.” The filmmaker further claimed, “For the ill informed, this is written by Faiz Ahmad Faiz. We bought the rights from Faiz House. There are many versions. This is our legal copyright version.”



Talking about the movie, which caused an uproar in 2022, starred Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and many others in pivotal roles. The Kashmir Files narrated the story of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley in the 1990s. It went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies in Bollywood in 2022. On the work front, he has movies like The Vaccine War and The Delhi Files in his pipeline.
